Bravo VO - the last bit is key IMHO. "But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your own mouth and in your own heart” that is, “the word” of faith, which we are preaching. For if you publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and exercise faith in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one exercises faith for righteousness, but with the mouth one makes public declaration for salvation. For the scripture says: “No one who rests his faith on him will be disappointed.” [Romans 10: 8-11]

And worth checking out [Psalm 91} for managing life on this mortal coil.

“The illusion of freedom will continue for as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will take down the scenery, move the tables and chairs out of the way, then they will pull back the curtains and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.” -Frank Zappa-

I've read that Frank Zappa, along with countless other 60's era rock n' rollers, came from a family of high-ranking military/intelligence officers.

He may have enjoyed insight from his familial connections that most were not aware of.

Onward, Christian soldiers!

"Romans 10:9 says that if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 8 tells us that as sons of God we are not slaves to fear, but co-heirs with Christ." So what happens to Jews? Jesus was a Jew who took his teachings to Gentiles as well as Jews, so does He invalidate all of Judaism? I am not trying a "gotcha" I am curious what you think.

It's not a trick question, and you almost answered it. The teaching that Jesus first took to the Jews (then the Gentiles), is that HE is the fulfillment of the Law, Matthew 5 starting in verse 17. So he does not invalidate "judaism" but supercedes it. The first converts to Christianity were three thousand Jews in Jerusalem, after the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost in Acts 2. Peter told them in verse 38 to repent and be baptized in the name of Christ, and that the promise is not only for them but for their children, and for all who are far off -- for all whom the Lord God will call (alluding to Gentiles). Paul goes through these ideas extensively in Galatians 3, where he finishes up "there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free...for you are all one in Christ Jesus." So to get back to your question "what happens to the Jews?" they must still repent and accept Jesus Christ. God will give them a "new heart" according to Ezekiel ch. 11 and 36.

I put "Judaism" in quotations because it may mean different things to different people. In its pure form it would just be "the Law" or "the Law and the Prophets". It has come to take on added doctrines, like most religions do, and seemed to be thoroughly corrupted by Jesus' day, as he was always admonishing 'you teachers of the Law'. Much like how the doctrines of Christianity established in the New Testament get corrupted, ignored, or twisted over the centuries by various 'religions.'

Many thanks for your complete and sincere answer. You have increased my understanding. I get a bit frustrated with American Christians who give 100% support to Israel based on their interpretations of Revelations. Theology and politics entangled together like thorny plant taking over a hedge.

Israel is a prickly pear to be sure. I get similarly frustrated over the Israel is Evil crowd, as if the issue could ever be so simple. Scripture is the only way to understand what we are dealing with.

Many thanks for your insightful comments.
